Solar Investment Tax Credits
The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is a Federal tax credit for residential and commercial property owners. Homeowners can apply the credit to their personal income tax liability (Section 25D residential ITC), and under Section 48, a business that installs, develops or finances a solar energy project can claim a commercial tax credit.
Other Solar Energy Incentives for Washington State Residents
The Washington State Renewable Energy System Cost Recovery Program is a production-based incentive program for qualifying customers. The amount each participant earns depends on the type of equipment installed and the amount of energy produced. There are limits on total incentives paid each fiscal year, and the program is subject to change by state action at any time.
To qualify, the property owner must have the system certified by the WA Department of Revenue. Once you receive your certification letter from DOR and your utility company has record of it, we’ll administer the Production Incentive Credit annually.
How Much Solar Power Needed for Your Home?
The answer depends on your energy consumption. One owner may have a highly energy efficient Net Zero home that only needs a small solar power system to cover all its energy usage. Another may have a less energy-inefficient home that could never cover all its energy needs with solar power. We look at your home and usage needs to assess how a solar power system would benefit your situation.
Net Metering
Washington state’s net metering policy is designed to allow customer-generators offset their electricity consumption with solar energy production on an annual basis. The net metering reserve allows you to roll net metering credits from one annual billing period to another. Per state law, net metering reserve credits expire on April 30 of each year. Find out more information about Net Metering.
Electric Car Chargers Can Use Solar Energy
With a 5kW solar power system taking advantage of tax incentives for you, there’s one more incentive available. An electric car charger can use energy from the sun to power your car, saving you money and helping improve air quality! There are more efficient electric vehicles are on the market now than ever before, and there are tax incentives available for buying one. And with more charging stations going in everywhere, electric-powered travel is becoming more reliable every day.
Solar Power System Monitoring
PV system monitoring helps operators create an energy balance between the amount of solar resource available and the losses in each energy conversion process up to delivery at the point of interconnection. Monitoring is a powerful tool for understanding PV system performance, and it’s fundamentally dependent on the quality of sensors and analytical models used.
